Opening the Jewellery Box: The White Diamond Veronica
The WHITE DIAMOND VERONICA
Dancing Queen
The White Diamond Veronica is a completely flexible necklace composed of four concentric, moving circles, creating a pendant that dances with its wearer. The necklace’s circles are held together vertically from the center going upwards by a trail of marquise blue sapphires. The center of the necklace is a 1.51 carat moghul-cut white diamond. The next layer is a halo of black diamond pave. Following is a band of 5.14 carats of apatites. The last ring is made of 13.39 carats of rose-cut blue sapphires, flanked by 1.17 carats of pink sapphires. The total medallion measures 2.75 inches, and is set in eighteen-karat white gold. In its entirety, the White Diamond Veronica has been created and handcrafted in New York.
With The Sway
The White Diamond Veronica explores structure by experimenting with movement. The center namesake white diamond and each echoing ring of gemstones is completely flexible, allowing for isolation in movement. The necklace as a whole is therefore able to swing like a bejewelled pendulum, swaying in its rippling circles.
Colourful Composition
Each circle of stones has been thoughtfully set to radiate out from the center white diamond. Each circle is its own pop of colour, as the necklace’s palette was selected in the theme of unexpected combinations: varying tones of electric and navy blue contrast classic shades of black and white. Completing the story is a scalloped edge of hot pink, creating space for vibrant whimsy and drawing the eye to the pendant’s outer edge, surveying the necklace’s complete colour story.
The central moghul-cut diamond has been created by utilizing an ancient diamond faceting technique. A famous diamond with this cut is The Great Mogul Diamond, named for its recipient, the fifth Mughal Emperor, Shah Jahan. In contemporary jewellery design, this method is uncommon for gemstone faceting. The overall shape of the jewel reflects an egg that has been divided in half. The clean slices of the moghul-cut emulate a more tactile, three-dimensional rose-cut. Perhaps the most distinct factor of the moghul-cut is its irregular facets. There is no symmetry in cutting, which allows for a unique hall of mirrors effect.
Off The Chain
The White Diamond Veronica is suspended from a black steel chain. This contrast of industrial inspiration and fine jewellery lends to an effortlessly chic and uniquely cool styling. In addition, the pendant’s removable bail allows for it to be worn on any chain, allowing versatility in wear.
Labour Of Love
From inception to completion, the White Diamond Veronica took 5 months to reach full realisation. It is thanks to a team of master jewelers, gemstone specialists, studio members and more, to bring this piece to life.
