Opening the Jewellery Box: The Emerald Shapar

The Emerald Shapar

Shining Bright In A Sea Of Greens

An eighteen-karat white gold necklace, the Emerald Shapar features a stunning set of emeralds and tsavorite garnets radiating outwards from a striking 9.71 carat copper Tahitian pearl center. The pendant is suspended from a sixteen-inch platinum chain via a hidden bail, and is set behind 6 emeralds and a 9.02 carat rosecut emerald surrounded entirely by tsavorite garnets . Every angle of this necklace has been carefully thought out to be multi-dimensional, even when viewed from the side. The extending green gemstones are set in a convex manner, so that the entire pendant stands out from the wearer’s neck.

Girl With A Pearl

The birth of the Emerald Shapar emerges from the connection of gemstone lovers. Sharon and Alexandra were so excited to meet the Tahitian pearl farmer from where the special copper pearl centerpiece originates. Upon returning to the studio, they could not wait to create a piece with this unusual oceanic jewel that would celebrate the enthusiasm that the farmer shared for his love of pearls. Thus, the pearl is tenderly framed by a fantastic complex of green gemstones and white diamonds, as a sea creature cradling its beloved treasure.

Green Light

Creating an ombré effect that emulates a brush stroke posed the challenge of finding the right emeralds to parade from dark to light in one swoop. Each emerald bead was intentionally selected for its specific shade and precisely placed by hand. For extra brilliance, each bead is studded with a white diamond, and framed by tsavorite melee-cut beams. Topping the pendant is a rectangular rosecut emerald, surrounded by tsavorite garnet pave, leading towards the bail.

Off The Chain

Continuing the interest of emeralds is the emerald-beaded white gold bail. To compliment the intricate strength of the Shapar, the necklace has been suspended from a bold platinum chain. However, the bail can be opened so that the pendant may be worn on different chains depending on that day’s look.

Labour Of Love

From inception to completion, the Emerald Shapar took 5 months to reach full realisation. It is thanks to a team of master jewelers, pearl farmers, gemstone specialists, studio members and more, to bring this piece to life.
